My subjects are:
- German A HL (in german)
- English B HL
- Visual Arts HL
- Mathematical Studies SL
- Biology SL (in german)
- History SL (in german)
- TOK (in german)
First of all, IB is very challenging. When I started the programme I thought it would be tough, but not as tough as it actually is. The assessment components will make you stop breathing for a while and if you look at the assessment criteria you will see that it can be hard to get a 7. E.g. I really worked hard on my TOK Presentation and had a really good feeling while doing it, but in the end I got a 4 out of 5 which is good but not what I wanted.
In the IB you can do a lot of stuff before the exams, which really takes much stress away. I´ve already done my German IOP, TOK Presentation, Extended Essay and I´m in the middle of my English Interactive Orals. In most of the subjects, if you do the Internal Assessments and Written Assignments well you almost passed the subject already. (But you have to get points in the exams too if you want to have enough points to pass the IB)
In general the thing with the points is very irritating at first glance because you have restrictions like you need at least 12 points in HL subjects and at least 9 points in SL subjects etc. This is something where you just have to keep an eye on and really keep in mind.
But when I look back now it seems that doing the IB programme was the best thing I could do after year ten.
